A leaf is a leaf is a leaf. But when it is on its way to its dried out demise, it’s magnificent. So many colours and textures! I painted this at a Seasons (NZ) painting course I attended for several weeks. As soon as we got to watercolour, I was in my element, and painting this leaf was so much fun. I used a fine sepia ink pen to dot-dot-dot and cross-hatch lots of the shaded areas, so when the paint went on, the shading was mostly already done.
