A creative stall - Saturday 28 March 2026!

…and here we are in March 2026…

First of all, I’m thrilled that my 2026 calendar has found a hook on the wall in so many homes, and that many of my products flew out the door as Christmas presents in 2025. A wonderful start for Sara Meade Design :-) Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me and shared tips and insights along the way. I can’t wait to share my developing designs and ideas with you throughout the year. I’m already planning another calendar for 2027, featuring an exciting range of watercolour images. Watch this space!

Sometimes a new year begins with a bang, full of the joy of new challenges and exciting events, and that’s wonderful. At other times, unexpected challenges arise and everything else has to take second place. For me, creative output and online communication have slowed from a canter to a trot, and occasionally to a complete standstill on a nice patch of grass (ref: the horse in the field in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams, a wonderful book). A family illness has taken much of my attention recently, but creativity still provides a valuable space in which to decompress.

That said, I have managed to sort out my glass bead collection and my ever-growing thread collection. Yippee! My sister in Australia collects beads and threads whenever she finds them in op/charity/thrift shops, so when I visited her in February we spent many happy hours organising everything into storage boxes. It was extremely hot outside (37°C at its highest), so what else could we do?!

With her help, I’ve chosen a range of Easter egg designs, from cheeky chickens through to more traditional patterns.

This turned out to be perfect timing, because I’ve signed up for my first ever creative works stall on Saturday 28 March. I’ll be at the Greenwoods Corner Eco Easter Market from 9am–12pm, under the shop canopies. I’ll have watercolour prints, greeting cards, and some leftover 2025 Christmas decorations available if they take your fancy. I’m also very happy to chat about needles, thread, beads, felt, fabric, colour, and the joys of compulsive creativity.

I’d love to see you there, and I’m sure you’ll find something to treasure and enjoy.

Greenwoods Corner Eco Easter Market, Saturday 28 March 2026 9am – 12pm. See you there!

From the organisers: This event is in partnership with the Albert-Eden Climate Action Network. There will be great competitions for children with a recycling and sustainability theme. Many stallholders (including some children) will be selling arts and crafts made from recycled or sustainable materials. There will also be a small electronic e-waste collection point on the day, so bring along any items you can. In essence, the event combines Greenwoods Corner’s Annual Eco Day (held for the past two years) with a new Easter Celebration Market. The timing works particularly well this year due to Easter and the region-wide Eco Festival.

So what does 2026 hold for Sara Meade Design?

  • I’ve been offered a wall to display a selection of my watercolour prints at Molly Blooms Florist in Greenwoods Corner. Thank you so much, Kirsten!

  • My products will also continue to be available at the marvellous Morrinsville Art Gallery, a real community hub supported by amazing volunteers, displaying incredible art.

  • And the wonderful Robyn at ’Tis the Season in Matangi (near Hamilton) has offered to stock my DIY felt craft kits. I’ll be supplying colourful felt hearts and threads for my pōhutukawa designs, and watch out for kōwhai and kākābeak flowers making an appearance too.

Blooming fantastic!!

Best wishes, Sara x

Purely coincidental!

These garden-cut alstroemeria (Peruvian Lilies) caught my eye when I turned my calendar page to March. There’s definitely a wee likeness there, yet I painted the flower from my imagination! I have three varieties of alstroemeria in my garden and they provide stunning long-lasting blooms from spring to autumn. Once the tubers have been planted they seem to last forever, and spread like mad! (Thanks, Jennifer and Helen, for making my garden so colourful!)
